The presentation is part of the ECSMGE24 Pre-conference workshop “WS 5 – Rcent advances in rigid inclusions”, arranged by with ISSMGE TC211 – Ground Improvement in Lisbon, 25 August 2024. The presentation provided technical overviews of rigid inclusions in Germany, discussed design considerations for the soil-inclusions mobilisation laws, LTP interaction and included Life Cycle Assessment case studies.

Christopher Tinat, Project Manager / Technical engineer, Menard GmbH

Christopher Tinat is Menard Germany Technical Manager and is based in Hamburg. He has 14 years of experience in ground improvement during design and execution stage. Christopher has started as site manager in 2012 and was project manager during his time at Menard. He was responsible for various methods such as Menard vacuum consolidation, CMC, vibro compaction, dynamic compaction, and dynamic replacement. During his career, Christopher has worked on the design and implementation of several ground improvement systems for a variety of projects including warehouses, roadways and abutments, industrial and commercial buildings, and multi-family residences. Christopher is part of the german working group for rigid inclusions with a special focus on load transfer methods and the LTP interaction. His national and international publications mostly deal with rigid inclusion design, pressuremeter testing and the special behavior of soft soils.

Birthe Knabe, Design engineer and environmental ambassador, Menard GmbH

Birthe Knabe is a design Engineer, holder a Master of Science specialized in environmental engineering from TU Braunschweig. She has over 2 years of experience within the geotechnical industry within the soil reinforcement specialist Menard in Germany. Birthe is also the environmental ambassador within Menard GmbH.
