Professor Jian CHU, School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University

Professor Jian CHU is President’s Chair in Civil Engineering, Chair of School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and founding Director of the Centre for Urban Solutions at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He also worked for Iowa State University, USA, from 2011 to 2014 as professor and James M. Hoover Chair in Geotechnical Engineering. Currently, Professor Chu is the Chair for ISSMGE Technical Committee TC217 - Land Reclamation under, a member of TC211 - Ground Improvement and a past president of the Geotechnical Society of Singapore. He is an Editor for a high impact journal Acta Geotechnica, Editor-in-Chief for a new journal Biogeotecnics, and Associate Editor for ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering. Professor Chu has delivered more than 70 keynote or invited lectures at international conferences. He has also been a consultant for several large-scale construction projects in Singapore and the region.
