About

Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) technique has revolutionized the construction of soil retaining structures. A particularly prominent application involves the use of an MSE structure to support the load of a bank seat supporting a bridge deck rather than using deep foundations to support the bridge loads. In this case, the MSE structure constitutes a " Load-carrying MSE bridge abutment.”

This webinar briefly covers:

  • The MSE concept and its application in bridge abutments, both for temporary and permanent applications
  • Early uses of load-carrying (L-C) MSE bridge abutments
  • L-C MSE bridge abutment types and design considerations
  • L-C MSE bridge abutments benefits
  • L-C MSE bridge abutments case studies
